Cabinet of Virtual Curiosities

Report

About the Cabinet of Virtual Curiosities Template. Appropriating one of the Art world's most enduring artefact called Cabinet of Curiosities (wunderkammer ) into our world was not a far stretch of the imagination. A Cabinet (originally a Room) displayed a collection of notable, novel objects that reflects the curiosity of the collector (or curator).

Original Use Case

The Cabinet of Virtual Curiosities was originally used as a curatorial metaphor to showcase nine (9) online activities to a group of participants new to MIRO, Virtual Collaboration and

Serious Play connection to Strategic Foresight. The use of the Cabinet were:

a. Show the potential of strong visual hook (ie The Cabinet and Artefacts) to weave a story line of the learning goal.

b. Use the artefacts to identify what is the collective's preference on what they want to learn, not what the facilitator want to teach.

c. Unveil the entire board and lift the veil of a designed online learning experience to inspire participants how to facilitate better.

Template Resource to customise for you:

a. Additional Cabinet/ Display Case image to customise your Cabinet or Room.

b. Additional Curio (or Artefacts) to use in your designed experience and personalise your collection.

c. Preset of nine (9) play spaces for activities you want to offer your participants. Use the MIROverse for inspiration or create your own!

Alternative Use Case

Participants and members of the MIRO community have suggested the following activities given the assets on the board and/ or utilising the metaphorical engagement elements:

a. Build Your Own Cabinet. For conversations around using inanimate images as point of reference on identified topic ( ie Retro, Ideation, Feedback etc).

b. Collaboration Exercise to identify shared identity of teams, for example , that are in the forming stage.

c. Vision Exercise to explore artefacts from the future as collected by an individual or the group.
