User Interviews

Report

The key to creating great products is to be aware of opportunities (= user needs, pain points, and desires), they are opportunities to intervene positively in your users' lives. That's why you should create a set of habits to keep yourself near these needs, pain points, and desires while being near technology to know what is possible. You are the inventor, not your customers.

Generate a list of research questions (what you need to learn), and identify one or two story-based interview questions (what you’ll ask).

Remember, a story-based interview question starts with, “Tell me about a specific time when...“

Which questions to ask to get more details:

The interviewee is the protagonist of the story, who encounters experiences on a timeline.

Guide the participant through their own story. Teresa gives a lot of examples how to keep the story going. I find it easiest to have those at hand in my native language.
