The UX Research Plan Canvas is a lightweight, collaborative template that helps teams get clear on what research they’re doing, why they’re doing it, and how they’ll actually carry it out. It’s designed to help teams align on goals, users, assumptions, key research questions, and methods- so research isn’t performative, rushed, or disconnected from real decisions.

Built with UX work in government contexts in mind, this canvas works well for multidisciplinary teams navigating policy, constraints, ethics, and accessibility requirements. It can be used solo or in facilitated sessions to align stakeholders, choose the right research approach, and produce a clear, defensible research plan before discovery or delivery begins.
