An experience map reflects the experience of an individual or interest group as you follow them through different stages (or phases) of a scenario and observe how they respond to a situation, service, or place.

To create an experience map, you first need to develop a scenario that shows what an individual or interest group does to carry out an activity or respond to a situation.

You then reflect on, or collect information about, this experience to add thoughts and feelings. You may focus on thoughts and feelings that reveal their priorities or freedoms (what they value being able to do or be), but also their concerns (the obstacles to achieving what is valued to be able do or be).
