How to use the Project Roadmap Template for Project Managers

Gather your core team—and ideally all stakeholders—for a roadmap planning session. Follow these steps:

In Table View:

1. List all relevant project activities. These should be larger groups of tasks rather than minor ones.

2. Use the dedicated labels for Impact, Effort, and Urgency to assess each activity.

3. (Optional) Note how individual activities contribute to your business goals.

In Timeline View:

• Arrange activities (shown as horizontal bars) on the timeline to structure your roadmap by start and end date per activity. Use this step to actively discuss with your team, and always include a buffer in case things don’t go as planned.

After this initial roadmap planning session, hold short check-in meetings at least weekly (ideally daily): 

In Kanban View:

• Use the Kanban view to align on project status and progress. Move activities across columns with the Status label to reflect updates.

The Miro Table Roadmap offers three views: Table, Timeline, and Kanban. You can switch between them easily by clicking the layout button in the upper-left corner of the module.
