Team Connection Wall
This brief activity allows participants to connect and network in a low-pressure way, with flexibility for the leader to customize the pool of conversation prompts.
@cwheeler and I created an ice breaker template that could be used during regular team meetings or a stand-alone gathering.
Activity Objective:
This ice breaker is best used by teams that meet regularly. It provides an opportunity for members to connect quickly, yet meaningfully. It's low-risk, simple, and inclusive.
Before the meeting:
Review the Team Connection wall below.
Set up your team into conversation pairs or triads for breakout work. If possible, match up people who may not know each other well. Assign group numbers and notify team members of their groups in advance.
Groups will capture their notes on their assigned group "flip chart"--there are 4 below.
Choose 1-3 prompts.
Pro tips:
If you have more/less groups, duplicate or add more white columns accordingly.
Allow groups about 5-7 minutes per question using MIRO's Timer.
For even more fun, choose the question(s) using use Miro's "Totally Random" app.
During the meeting:
State the activity's objective. Check to see that each team member has selected a circle and moved it to the appropriate column as stated in the instructions.
Before going to breakout rooms, remind groups to practice active listening and capture their notes on their assigned "flip chart" below.
Also ask them to keep an eye on the time and rotate so each person has equal time to talk.
When time is up, each group will share what they learned with the full team.
The facilitator can add value by identifying themes heard across all groups. ex. (ex. Who else noticed "x"?)
