Report

The template helps to create the plan for a project with a focus on constraints and the shortest path to profits. Key ideas are based on Goldratt's Theory of Constraints.

You can perform reverse planning by putting wanted results and describing how to get them through breaking impediments. Each impediment should be placed on the path to success and also decomposed for the bunch of tasks to dissolve it.

How to use the Quick Launch Strategy board

Step 1:

Put all wanted outputs that you have to get after the project success in the Prize field. It could be revenue, personal achievements, or any kind of company metrics.

Step 2:

Describe each valuable result that will be converted to the expected Prize in the Deliverables section. You can think about this part as project objectives that you will reach.

Step 3:

You have to find all impediments that do not allow you to move forward and place them into the Barriers section. For example, you do not have needed a professional in the team, or you have a critical bug in the application that you just developed.

Step 4:

Put each barrier in dependency and/or priority order on Critical Path to visualize the way how you will break them one by one. Also, you can add milestones to define intermediate goals.

Step 5:

Break down each item from Barriers into high-ordered tasks and place them into the Key Tasks section. These tasks do not need to be much detalized (you can do it in your tasks tracker after all), but they must cover all that is needed to break each barrier.

Note that, the goal of this tool is to help to make focus on the most important pieces of a project and get a clear strategy to go to the most wanted goals.
