Welcome to the “From Vision to Reality” Scrum Simulation

In this simulation, you will experience Scrum first-hand — not as a theory, but as a living, breathing way of working. Over the next few hours, your team will take on a creative challenge: design, plan, and deliver a four-story building in the Metaverse. Why the Metaverse? Because it allows us to focus on value for the client without the constraints of physical materials, construction times, or budgets. This is your space to think big, experiment, and learn how Scrum can be applied to complex, adaptive challenges beyond software development.

You will rotate through three main roles:

Client – setting the vision, defining who the building is for, and clarifying the “why”.

Product Owner – translating the vision into a prioritised backlog of user stories.

Development Team – collaboratively delivering increments that bring the vision to life.

The simulation is organised into four macro-phases:

Vision Definition – Act as the Client to write the vision statement, define the target customer, and outline key features and benefits.

Scrum Set-Up – As Product Owner, turn the vision into user stories, prioritise them, and plan your first sprint.

Real Action – Work as the Development Team to create tangible outputs in Miro, using sticky notes, shapes, and images to visualise your building. Hold stand-ups to share progress, obstacles, and next steps.

Closing the Loop – Conduct a Sprint Review to present your increment to the Client, followed by a Retrospective to reflect on the process and teamwork.

At the end of the simulation, we will debrief together: you’ll reflect on your experience, share insights, and connect what you’ve learned to real work contexts.

Remember: the goal is not just to “build a building” — it’s to experience the power of Scrum in managing complexity, fostering collaboration, and delivering value iteratively.
