Design Practice Conversation Framework
Using the framework
The framework is intended to support design practice conversations. For example, a design team may fill it out together during a team day. Or a design leader may show it filled out as part of a discussion with business leaders about when the team needs to invest more time/effort.
The framework offers a snapshot of where the practice currently is strong or weak. Using this the design leader can show where they are focusing their efforts.
The leader should mark the level of maturity against each of the sub-categories. This should be based on clear evidence rather than vibe scoring.
John Ungar's book goes into detail about why these are the most important categories to talk about in relation to a design practice, what evidence is required to score at different levels and tactics to think about when having a design conversation using this framework and the other 2 frameworks in the book.
