The School welcomes facilitators in our network to design and deliver a range of learning journeys, from short introductory sessions to our flagship six-month learning programme called Basecamp to domain-based programmes tailored for specific groups, e.g., for actors in the health or finance systems.

Designing learning journeys is more of an art than a science, and there’s no one way to approach it. The process will be non-linear, iterative and dynamic as facilitators work within their co-hosting teams; the design process will be different for each co-hosting team and each learning journey.

However, there is a rough sequencing of how we move through the process. We believe that it can be thought of in three stages, which are explored in our Handbook:

  1. Understanding design considerations and constraints

  2. Choosing core components

  3. Mapping the journey arc

To support facilitators with the design process, we’ve created a Systems Change learning journey design canvas, a practical template for co-hosting teams to work through these three stages.

Knowledge Base @ School of System Change

At the School, we believe that the transformation needed for a just and regenerative future will arise from strengthening our collective ability to embrace and work with complexity in our changing world. To realise this, we are nurturing a systemic, living paradigm, where learning is change. Through our learning journeys, partnerships and resources, we enable individuals, organisations and networks to cultivate transformative change through a multi-method approach to systems change learning.
