The template is highly customizable
It can be tailored to the team’s context, the facilitator’s style, or the agile framework in use. Symbols, colours, tile meanings, and the stack of post‑it questions can all be adapted to better fit the team’s maturity, culture, and current challenges.
Since this is a variation of Retropoly, it should not be used as the only activity in a retrospective. It works best either as a separate workshop or team-building session, or as one component of a longer retrospective, especially for teams that have already worked together for some months.
Facilitators are encouraged to review and refine the guiding questions in advance to ensure they resonate with the team dynamics.
The activity is flexible in duration
It can range from a short 10‑minute energizer to an extended session, depending on timebox and team size. It is particularly effective for smaller groups (up to six participants). For larger teams, the board can be scaled simply by duplicating tiles to increase the number of spaces.
After customizing the template, facilitators should lock the board frame to avoid accidental changes to the background during play.
