Stakeholder Canvas

Report

Technology doesn't work until people make it work. And to get people on board you need to know where they sit in terms of influencing the people around them and your project outcomes.

Prior to kicking off any initiative, use this stakeholder canvas to create a list of your influential and impacted stakeholders and map them according to their level of commitment and influence on the project.

Map them to the corresponding quadrants and use this information to plan a stakeholder management strategy that will enable success. Review where stakeholders stand frequently throughout the project.

How to use this canvas:

Step 1

Make sure you assemble a team of people that are aware of the change proposal and have good operational knowledge and networks. You need to surface every stakeholder you can think of for this workshop, so you need the right people in the room!

Step 2

Brainstorm every possible affected stakeholder and list them on the left-hand side.

Step 3

Place each stakeholder on the map according to their level of commitment and their level of influence on the outcomes. Ensure that you follow up with any stakeholders whose commitment or influence is unknown.

Step 4

Use the information surfaced to develop a stakeholder engagement plan based on the quadrants.
