ABC Learning Design Workshop

This template is a comprehensive and interactive digital workspace designed to support the ABC Learning Design (LD) method - a rapid curriculum design approach that focuses on aligning learning activities with specific learning outcomes. Developed with collaborative workshops in mind, this storyboard template enables educators, learning designers, and curriculum teams to co-design courses in a visual and time-efficient way, whether working synchronously or asynchronously.

At the heart of the template is the ABC LD storyboard, a sequenced framework that represents a course structure using a series of cards that each correspond to a specific learning type as defined by Diana Laurillard's Conversational Framework. The six activity types - Acquisition, Collaboration, Discussion, Investigation, Practice, and Production - are colour-coded and form the backbone of the learning design. These cards can be arranged to form a visual “narrative” of the course, module, or learning session, showing the sequence and variety of learning activities students will undertake.
