Report

The website navigation flowchart is useful for teams who are setting up new websites. It gives an overview of the user experience and system architecture involved in creating the website.

Visualizing the navigation of a website helps determine how content and information will be grouped in the website, especially as the website evolves in the future. It also helps identify missing pages and inefficiencies which will eventually become useful when improving the website after it is live and getting feedback from actual users.

To start using the flowchart:

Review the sample flowchart to understand the different elements, steps, and processes
Determine what type of website you want to make (e.g. ecommerce, blog, news site, etc)
Customize the flowchart based on your project needs

After making a draft flowchart, share the flowchart with relevant team members for feedback and input.

Trying to explain a process or workflow to your team — or just wrap your head around it yourself? Sometimes the best way is to see it, and that’s when you create a flowchart. Using common shapes (generally just ovals, rectangles, diamonds, and arrows), a flowchart shows you the direction a process or workflow goes and the order of steps. Beyond giving you a clear understanding, you’ll also be able to see potential flaws and bottlenecks, which helps you refine and improve your process and create a better product more efficiently.
