Stakeholder Analysis for Project Management

A Stakeholder Analysis identifies and manages people who influence or are affected by a project. It maps influence, interest, and attitude to guide engagement strategies. Projects often fail from misaligned stakeholders, not technical issues.

Who Uses It:

Project Managers, Product Owners, Team Leads, Executives, Consultants, and PMO Teams.

Four Steps:

Step 1 – Identify: List everyone affected by or able to influence the project. Build a stakeholder register.

Step 2 – Analyze: Rate each on Influence, Interest, and Attitude. Create a prioritization grid.

Step 3 – Plan: Choose engagement approaches—Manage Closely, Keep Satisfied, Keep Informed, or Monitor. Assign owners.

Step 4 – Monitor: Review every 4–6 weeks or after milestones. Update attitudes and adjust plans.

Cheers!
