Color-Coded SWOT Analysis

What It Is

A strategic planning framework that uses four distinct colors to visually organize internal and external factors affecting your business or project. Each quadrant is color-coded for easy identification and team collaboration.

Who Can Use It

  • Business strategists and consultants

  • Project managers planning initiatives

  • Entrepreneurs evaluating business ideas

  • Marketing teams assessing campaigns

  • Product managers launching features

  • Leadership teams in strategic planning sessions

How to Use It

Step 1: Set Context

Add your analysis title (company name, project, product, or initiative).

Step 2: Complete Each Quadrant

  • Strengths (Purple) - List internal advantages and capabilities that give you competitive edge.

  • Weaknesses (Pink) - Identify internal limitations or areas needing improvement.

  • Opportunities (Green) - Note external conditions or trends you can leverage for growth.

  • Threats (Orange) - Document external challenges or risks that could harm performance.

Step 3: Analyze

Review connections between quadrants to develop strategic actions.

Example

Tech Startup Analysis:

  • Strengths: Experienced dev team, patented technology

  • Weaknesses: Limited budget, small market presence

  • Opportunities: Rising industry demand, partnership potential

  • Threats: Aggressive competitors, regulatory changes

The color system enables teams to quickly distinguish internal vs. external factors and positive vs. negative elements during collaborative strategy sessions.

Cheers!
