Team Metrics

Report

Most teams monitor some sort of KPIs to see how they are performing. However, seldom do they cover all three important areas of a team which are Product, Tech, and Team metrics.

This session is designed to help a team understand why all three dimensions are important to be considered. Additionally, the aim is to brainstorm and align on the next steps for incremental improvements in any of the given areas.

Who?

This template can be used by any kind of team (no specific business area, positions etc. required).

If it is used by a non-IT team the dimension of "Tech" might be rephrased to whatever enables the team to deliver their product.

How?

Most instructions can be found on the board directly. But a few hints and tips:

  • Foster an environment of safety and trust, e.g. by communicating that it's common and understandable to have a phase in which you are not content with your results. The purpose of having these kinds of team sessions is to see which circumstances might hinder success in terms of results or team feeling.

  • Let everyone know there is no right or wrong answer. Openly review the different assessments and ask participants what made the recognize at which level on the thermostat they are. What is already in place? What is helpful information? What is missing or might be hindering (e.g. due to too much information to process)?

  • This format lives from open and honest discussions. From experience, it works better if it's moderated more openly than strictly.
