Makigami is a value stream mapping method used to visualize processes and identify “waste” in the process steps. It provides both a simple way to visualize processes and a framework for determining how to optimize them and in what order of priority. In addition, it is possible to compare the lead time for each process step with setup times and idle times in order to identify resulting opportunities for optimization
