International Week of the Deaf — Accessibility Hub
This Miro workspace is an accessibility action and learning hub designed for International Week of the Deaf (September 21–27, 2026). Themed "Declaring Deaf People's Human Rights" and marking 75 years of the World Federation of the Deaf, the template guides teams through a structured four-frame journey to strengthen workplace accessibility for Deaf and hard-of-hearing colleagues.
The hub includes:
Resource Hub — Five connector-synced resource cards covering Sign Language Video Library (ASL/BSL basics and workplace vocabulary), Live Captioning Toolkit (CART setup and WCAG 1.2.2 standards), Deaf Culture & Etiquette Guide (meeting norms and common myths), Interpreter Booking Form (with 48-hour notice guidance), and Community Spotlight (profiles of Deaf teammates or leaders). Each card includes a placeholder for your organization's own links.
Accessibility Audit Checklist — A 10-item assessment across four categories: Meetings & Events, Digital Content, Physical Workspace, and Culture & Training. Teams check off what's already in place; unchecked items become commitment candidates.
Team Commitments Wall — A sticky-note space where each person pins one concrete action with a deadline, creating visible accountability.
Follow-Up Check-In Timeline — Four milestone dates (Kickoff on Sept 21, Week 1, Month 1, Quarter) with notes areas to ensure commitments don't fade after the initial enthusiasm.
Who Can Use This Template
This template is designed for DEI leads, People Ops teams, HR professionals, team managers, ERG (Employee Resource Group) leads, accessibility champions, and any team wanting to make their workplace more inclusive for Deaf and hard-of-hearing colleagues.
It works equally well for distributed remote teams and in-person organizations, and scales from single-team initiatives to organization-wide rollouts.
How to Use This Template
Work through the four frames from left to right:
Explore the Resource Hub — Review the five resource cards and replace each placeholder link with your organization's actual URLs (internal wiki, captioning vendor, booking form, spotlight stories). If you don't have a resource yet, that's valuable information for your audit.
Run the Accessibility Audit — Gather your team and work through all 10 checklist items together. Tick what's already true; anything unchecked reveals a gap worth addressing. Note your completion score out of 10.
Pin Team Commitments — Each person adds one sticky note with a specific action ("I will...") and deadline ("By: ____"). Encourage concrete commitments over vague intentions. Add more stickies as needed—aim for one per team member.
Schedule Check-Ins — Fill in the Week 1, Month 1, and Quarter check-in dates now. Lock these into your calendar with reminders so commitments stay visible and progress gets tracked.
Use the template asynchronously (team members work through it independently) or run it as a live facilitated workshop session during International Week of the Deaf. Both formats work—the structured four-frame flow supports either approach.
Cheers!
