HR Stakeholder Analysis

What It Is & Who It's For

A strategic planning tool that helps HR professionals identify, categorize, and engage stakeholders using an Influence vs. Interest matrix. Map stakeholders into four quadrants—Partner Closely, Keep Aligned, Keep Informed, and Monitor—to ensure the right level of communication with each group. Ideal for HR Managers, HRBPs, CHROs, L&D Teams, DEI Leaders, Talent Acquisition, and HR Project Managers leading organizational change, employee experience programs, inclusion initiatives, or workforce transformations.

How to Use It

  1. Identify stakeholders – List all individuals and groups impacted by your HR initiative

  2. Plot on the matrix – Assess each stakeholder's influence (power to impact) and interest (level of concern)

  3. Assign engagement approach – Match each quadrant to an action: high influence/high interest = Partner Closely; high influence/low interest = Keep Aligned; low influence/high interest = Keep Informed; low influence/low interest = Monitor

  4. Apply across HR project moments – Use at key stages like planning, implementation, and evaluation to adapt your stakeholder strategy

Cheers!
