Daily Scrum Football

Report

Introduction:

As we know, the Daily Scrum / Standup has traditionally been made up of the questions:

What did you do yesterday?

What are you doing today?

What if anything is blocking you from your progress?

This game recenters the Daily Scrum around the questions:

What is keeping you from our Sprint Goal?

Is there something that you can improve to deliver our Sprint Goal?

This will refocus the Daily Scrum around a game of football to identify how the team can improve on delivering their Sprint Goal. It also centres the developers by asking specifically what they are contributing to reach the Sprint Goals and allows them to identify obstacles in their way.

How to play the game:

The Scrum Master places the Sprint Goal on the board.

The ball is “kicked” to the first developer and passed around until everyone has answered the questions.

Problems not solved during the game are discussed after.
