Why Use the Stakeholder Mapping Template?

This template allows your team to move beyond simply listing names to strategically analyzing how each person or group affects, or is affected by, the project. It typically helps you categorize stakeholders into four quadrants:

  1. High Power, High Interest (Manage Closely): These are the key players (e.g., project sponsors, executives). You must actively engage them and manage their expectations frequently.

  2. High Power, Low Interest (Keep Satisfied): These stakeholders (e.g., senior management) must be kept happy with high-level updates to prevent them from becoming problems.

  3. Low Power, High Interest (Keep Informed): These people (e.g., team members, end-users) are valuable for detail and input; inform them adequately and consult them frequently.

  4. Low Power, Low Interest (Monitor): These stakeholders require minimal effort but should be monitored for any shift in interest or influence.
