Paper Telephone is a fun and fast-paced ice breaker designed to energize Agile teams. The game is built around a chain of drawings and written descriptions. One player starts by drawing anything they like. The next player looks at that drawing and writes a short caption describing what they think it is. The following player uses that caption to create a new drawing — and the cycle continues.
By the time the chain reaches the final player, the last drawing is often completely different from the original. The result is a hilarious showcase of how communication shifts, transforms, and sometimes completely derails as it's passed along.
For Agile teams, this activity is a playful way to highlight how information evolves, how interpretation varies between team members, and how easily meaning can change during handoffs — just like in real projects and sprints.
