Lean Research Inception（LRI）は、研究者と実務家が共同で、ソフトウェア工学における現実世界に関係する研究課題を策定・評価できるよう支援するフレームワークです。
デザイン思考、リーンスタートアップ、リーンインセプションなどのアジャイル手法に触発され、LRI は学術界と業界の早期な統合を促進することを目的としています。可視化ツールである Problem Vision ボードと、価値、実現可能性、適用性 に基づく Semantic Differential Scale（意味差異尺度）を組み合わせ、実用最小限の製品（MVP）の概念を取り入れています。
このボードには、次の内容が含まれます：
• LRI の進め方を示す、実世界の問題に基づく例
• ワークショップ、研究計画、または共創セッションで使用できる空のテンプレート
このアプローチは、PUC-Rio（ブラジル）での Anrafel Fernandes Pereira の博士研究の一部です。SAIL Lab（Software and AI Engineering Lab）での研究や、International Software Engineering Research Network（ISERN）2024 でのシニア研究者とのワークショップを通じてさらに洗練されました。
