What’s New: What we launched in June 2024

We’ve been busy making Miro even better and we have some exciting updates to share with you this month: new filter options in Planner, a Timer and Private mode Action Shortcuts, AI-generated diagrams and new integrations with GitHub, Salesforce, and Autodesk. Plus, our improved grid size and snap-to-grid features make diagramming a breeze.

What else is new, you ask? Actually — some big, big updates. Join us for our special What’s Next event on July 17 for the first look. You’ll get a front row seat to demos on how to blend intelligence and interactivity, all so your team can speed toward innovation in Miro. Save your spot →

Product and service innovation

Add assignees to your columns and swimlanes in Planner

We’ve updated Planner to make filtering easier and more flexible for everyone. Now, all fields used as columns or swimlanes can also be used as filters, benefiting both Jira Planner and Azure Planner users. This update is especially helpful for Jira DC and on-prem customers, who previously had limited filtering options. To use this feature, simply add Planner from the app list, create your Planner, configure columns, and use the filter icon to customize your view.

Updated filter options for Planner

As part of our work to level up the Azure DevOps integration and support Agile practices, we’ve added a story points field to Azure cards in Miro. Now you can select a card and open the story points field directly in Azure DevOps. After editing the field you’ll see the Azure card updated in Miro to reflect the latest estimation.

Action shortcuts for Dependencies

Action shortcuts provide an easy way to access the Dependencies app from your planning board, allowing you to quickly see and manage dependencies between work items when you need to.

Whether you’re using Jira cards or Azure cards, this update lets you add the Dependencies shortcut directly onto your planning boards. When you click the “Show now” button, the Dependencies app opens and displays all the connections (dependencies) between work items (Jira cards or Azure cards) on your board. The app shows these dependencies based on the filters you’ve set for that board.

Real-time Jira updates via OAuth 2.0 webhooks

We’ve made it easier for Jira Cloud users to get real-time updates in Miro. Now, with OAuth 2.0, you can set up webhooks to instantly sync changes from Jira to Miro. Just be sure you’re an admin for both Miro and Jira, then follow the steps in ‘Apps & Integrations’ to enable this update.

Diagramming and process design

Automatically generate diagrams from text using AI

You can now use Miro Assist to create UML class diagrams, UML sequence diagrams, flowcharts, and ER diagrams by typing in a text prompt. Once the diagram is generated with AI, it is fully editable.

Improved Grid Size

Align diagrams easier than ever before with a reduced and improved background grid size.  Additionally, the default diagramming shape sizes have been updated to fit the smaller grid. With both grid and shape sizing standardized, managing object dimensions is now simpler.

Snap-to-Grid works while moving objects

Objects now snap during movement, providing a clearer sense of control and predictability when moving. Connector lines also snap to the grid, making it easier to create perfectly straight lines. The snap-to-grid feature is now available for both the no grid and line grid options.

Canvas and collaboration

Timer and Private Mode action shortcuts

We know how tricky it can be to juggle everything during group sessions, especially when you’re managing multiple activities and attention spans. To streamline this process, we’ve introduced new action shortcuts for Timer and Private Mode.

These action shortcuts make these essential apps easier to access when you need them, helping your workshops and team meetings run smoother. With these new shortcuts, you can set things up ahead of time and create ready-to-use templates, saving time and reducing stress during your collaborative work.

An inclusive and flexible platform

UI improvements to drawing tools on interactive displays

Enjoy all the essential tools right in the main creation toolbar with a new and improved interactive displays layout. This simplified layout allows you quicker access to tools such a pen, highlighter, eraser and lasso

Tags on sticky notes and cards now more accessible

Now, when you add a tag to a sticky note or card, Miro will automatically choose the color of the text based on the tag color, checking the color contrast to optimize for accessibility.

Miro Accessibility Checker

The Miro Accessibility Checker is an innovative tool aimed at empowering all users to collaborate effectively, without the limitations imposed by accessibility barriers. It performs a variety of checks on your Miro boards to identify areas that may not meet accessibility standards, providing you with actionable insights on how to improve your content for all users.

Public Boards Password Control

You asked, we listened! We have improved the UI of setting passwords for publicly shared boards so you can see if your password meets default requirements in real-time.

GitHub, Salesforce & Autodesk Integrations

We’re excited to announce the release of three of the most requested Miro integrations – GitHub, Salesforce, and Autodesk, developed by ServiceRocket. These integrations will enable users to run engaging planning sessions, facilitate sales account mapping, and collaborate on 3D designs with their team. Learn more about ServiceRocket integrations here

With the GitHub Integration, you can browse, import, and edit GitHub issues directly in Miro, with a two-way sync, and convert single or multiple Miro sticky notes into GitHub issues directly into repositories and projects.

With the Salesforce Integration, you can import Salesforce opportunities, contacts, and accounts into Miro as cards to streamline account planning activities. This integration is also a two-way sync!

With the Autodesk Integration, you can visualize 3D Files from Autodesk in Miro to facilitate collaborative design activities. Furthermore, you can customize 3D files to specific angles and instantly capture snapshots of 3D files.

Miro for Microsoft Outlook and Teams Extensions

Miro users can now take advantage of shortcuts when sharing Miro boards via Outlook. Miro links now turn into detailed cards, providing more information about the content of the board. Users can also quickly search and launch boards from the message draft box in Microsoft Teams. Learn more here.

Self-serve tools to Migrate your content to Miro

We know it’s not easy working with multiple tools. Now, you can easily import multiple files from LucidChart, LucidSpark, Mural, Conceptboard, Freehand and Jamboard as editable content on Miro. Not only that, you can easily copy + paste board content from Mural and LucidSpark to Miro – say goodbye to downloading and uploading files with this update!
