Value Stream Map

A value stream map (VSM) template based on Lean Six Sigma methodology provides a visual tool for analyzing, designing, and improving the flow of materials and information required to deliver a product or service. The template typically includes key sections such as process steps, timelines, inventory levels, cycle times, lead times, and information flows. It starts with customer requirements on the right and supplier inputs on the left, mapping the current state in between. Each process step is represented with standardized icons, capturing value-added and non-value-added activities. Metrics like takt time, process efficiency, and defect rates are recorded to identify bottlenecks and waste. The template also includes space for future state mapping and improvement opportunities.
