Ahoy there, mateys! Welcome aboard the Retro Remix: SpongeBob SquarePants retrospective! This here board is gonna help all ye product managers, project managers, and engineers reflect on yer recent sprint adventures. So gather 'round, me hearties, and let's navigate through these retrospectives with all the enthusiasm of SpongeBob on a jellyfishing expedition. Let's set sail for continuous improvement, aye aye, captain! 🦑🍍🏴‍☠️

How to use this template

Follow the steps below to get the most of this framework:

1. Start with the Gary Icebreaker

Begin your retrospective session by using the Gary icebreaker prompt. Take a Krabby Patty and place it on the version of Gary that you think best reflects your team's experience and/or performance during the sprint. This activity encourages team members to share their perspectives and sets the stage for open and honest discussions.

2. Dive into discussion prompts

Next, make your way through the discussion prompts inspired by various characters from SpongeBob SquarePants. These prompts are designed to help you reflect on different aspects of your sprint:

  • SpongeBob's Wins: Reflect on your team's biggest wins and the outcomes you loved during the sprint.

  • Squidward's Challenges: Identify the major challenges or frustrations your team faced and discuss how you addressed them.

  • Mr. Krabs' Value: Evaluate whether you prioritized tasks effectively to deliver the most value.

  • Patrick's Simplicity: Brainstorm ways to simplify complex tasks or processes to make your work more straightforward.

  • Plankton's Lessons: Learn from things that didn't go as planned and discuss the lessons you've gained.

  • Team Leaders and Colleagues: Reflect on how your team leaders or colleagues provided guidance and support when needed, and uncover your "secret formula" for success .

3. Krabby Patty dot vote

Use the Krabby Patties to dot vote for the most important or impactful tickets on your board. This activity helps prioritize improvements and experiments based on the collective input of your team .

4. Rate the retro

Finally, conclude your retrospective session by rating the retro section using a SpongeBob token placed on a Krabby Patty. This rating reflects the return on time invested in the session, ranging from "not enough" to a "feast" .

The key to a successful retrospective is open communication and a willingness to learn and adapt. Happy reflecting!
