Workshop Agenda

1. Icebreaker (15 min) – "What Motivates You?"

💬 Activity:

  • Ask each team member to write down how they feel most appreciated at work (e.g., public recognition, mentorship, gifts, etc.).

  • Share responses and see if they align with one of the love languages in the image.

  • Group similar responses under each love language category.

Outcome: Helps the team recognize diverse appreciation styles.

2. Love Language Deep Dive (20 min)

💡 Activity:

  • Split into small groups and assign each group a love language from the image.

  • Each group discusses:

    1. What does this love language look like in the workplace?

    2. How does it positively impact team culture?

    3. What are some examples of it done well?

  • Groups present their insights to everyone.

🔍 Example Insights:

  • Acts of Service: "Helping clean up a messy project board in Jira is like doing the dishes at home—small but meaningful!"

  • Affirmation: "Getting a shout-out in Slack makes me feel valued."

Outcome: Teams reflect on the value of each appreciation style.

3. Self-Assessment and Team Map (20 min)

📊 Activity:

  • Give each person a sticky note (or Miro card) and ask them to write their top two love languages at work.

  • Create a Team Love Language Map by placing sticky notes under each category.

  • Discuss as a team:

    • What patterns do we notice?

    • Are we over-relying on certain appreciation styles?

    • What’s missing in our team culture?

Outcome: Teams gain awareness of how they express and receive appreciation.

4. Applying Love Languages in Daily Work (30 min)

🛠 Activity:

  • In pairs or small groups, brainstorm "Micro-Actions" for each love language that can be applied in daily work.

  • Examples:

    • Receiving Gifts: "Bring coffee for a teammate before a big presentation."

    • Acts of Service: "Offer help on a tough task without being asked."

    • Affirmation: "Make team shout-outs part of every retrospective."

  • Each group presents their micro-actions, and the team votes on 2-3 habits to start implementing.

Outcome: Practical ways to embed appreciation in the team’s culture.

5. Commitment and Wrap-Up (15 min)

📌 Activity:

  • Each person writes down one personal commitment (e.g., "I will make a habit of giving positive feedback in Slack weekly").

  • As a team, set one shared commitment (e.g., "We will start every retro with 5 minutes of gratitude").

  • Wrap up with reflections:

    • What did you learn about your teammates today?

    • How will this change the way we work together?

Outcome: Creates accountability and action from the workshop.

Post-Workshop Follow-Up

📢 Facilitator's Role:

  • Share notes and commitments in a Slack channel or Notion doc.

  • Check-in after 2-4 weeks to see what’s working and what needs adjustment.

  • Keep the momentum by reinforcing these appreciation habits in meetings.
