Stakeholder Analysis

What is a Stakeholder Analysis?

A stakeholder analysis is a tool used to map all individuals or groups that have a stake in your product or project, and to plan how you should communicate with those parties.

Why should you create one?

It is important to get an overview of who will participate in and influence your project. The project team should be aware of who needs to be involved and to what extent. Additionally, it is essential to know who will benefit the project and who may hinder it. Once this is clear, effective communication strategies can be developed.

When to use it on a project?

Use it during the discovery phase of a new project and update it regularly, especially when new stakeholders need to be considered due to changes in marketing strategy, team structure, or internal personnel. It can also be very helpful if legal changes arise.

Tips for a good Stakeholder Analysis

Always involve the team in conducting the analysis together. This way, you will gain insights from different perspectives, helping to avoid gaps in identifying who needs to be involved. Additionally, consider inviting key stakeholders to the analysis workshop, especially if a stakeholder represents a department that is strongly involved in the project.
