Inclusive Design Toolkit – a modern approach to design

In the complex tapestry of human society, diversity is our strength. Yet, often, systems and designs inadvertently exclude sections of this spectrum. Enter inclusive design – a revolutionary methodology that not only acknowledges but actively draws upon the vast scope of human differences. Inclusive design seeks to identify and bridge the gaps between people and societal systems, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, economic status, or cultural background, feels seen, heard, and catered to.

Enhanced by Generative-AI, our toolkit is meticulously crafted to serve as a beacon in your journey towards creating a more inclusive world.

1. Cover 4 Essential Inclusive Design Skills. This toolkit helps you master

  • Unlearning: Break free from biases and preconceived notions that can hinder inclusivity.

  • Empathise with Diversity: Truly connect with diverse user groups, understanding their unique challenges and aspirations.

Welcome to the future of design, where everyone has a seat at the table. Let's co-create a world without barriers, one inclusive design at a time.

(This toolkits was developed during the Inclusive Design course of the design school of the Polytechnic of Milan, since 2018, thanks to collaborative genius from:

  • Antonio Grillo: the visionary Inclusive Design Professor and Executive Design Director, who also spearheads this toolkit as the primary author

  • Akanksha Gupta: the erudite former assistant professor and co-author,

  • Jinlong Yu: the assistant professor and the creative engine behind the toolkit's AI augmentation.

Their conjoined effort offer a rich tapestry of global experiences and academic profundity, crafting a path towards a more inclusive world through design.)
