Bridging the Gap: Insight to Application

Report

About

I created this board to help a team to make the connection between learning and action. Sometimes there is a disconnect between what a team surfaces and learns during an iteration, and understanding how to turn those learnings into actionable items.

How it works?

The Bridging the Gap retrospective has been designed to enable teams to reflect on the learnings gained during the last iteration and successful tie those insights into actions that take in their next one.

Recommended steps:

  1. Reflect: Look back at the last iteration and share the successes, challenges and learnings you experienced on the stickies provided.

  2. Connect: Focus on linking your insights with actionable steps in the next iteration. As a team, discuss and identify specific actions or experiments that can be implemented that will enable you to use your learnings in the next iteration.

  3. Action Planning: During this phase of the retro, the team decides collaboratively on the actions and experiments that they want to undertake in the iteration. Each action or experiment should directly address a learning or improvement opportunity identified during your discussions. We will also establish clear ownership and timelines for each action/experiment.

  4. Closure: Review the actions that have been committed to, understand the importance of applying actions to our insights, focus on staying committed to them, and remember that continuous improvement is a collective effort.

All the best as you lead your team and I hope that you enjoy the template that I created.
