Generate diagrams from text with Miro AI for Diagramming

As part of the new Intelligent Canvas, Miro users can now generate diagrams from text.

What is Miro AI for Diagramming?

Miro AI for Diagramming is a new AI capability that allows teams to generate diagrams from a text prompt. Whether you need to quickly visualize an Entity Relationship Diagram, a UML diagram or flowchart, Miro AI will help you instantly create diagrams that you can then edit in the canvas.

This new AI-enhanced capability quickly generates the base for your diagramming work, meaning you can get started on projects, brainstorm, collaborate and keep your projects moving forward much quicker than before.

How to use Miro AI for Diagramming

Using Miro AI to generate diagrams is easy. Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the ‘Create with AI’ button on the left hand side panel
  2. Select the ‘diagram’ icon
  3. Choose the type of diagram that you would like to create
  4. Enter your text prompt
  5. Click ‘generate’

And then watch as your diagram appears on the canvas.

Which diagrams can Miro AI create?

Let’s look at some of the diagrams you can generate with Miro AI.

Flowcharts

Flowcharts are visual representations that depict a sequence of steps or actions in a process. They break down complex processes into a series of easy-to-understand steps, making it easier to analyze, communicate, and optimize workflows.

Try this prompt to generate your own:

Visualize the migration process from on-premise to cloud. Include swim lanes for task owners including: project manager, cloud architect, DevOps, and QA.

Mind map

A mind map is a simple but powerful diagram that outlines your ideas in a visual format. Creating a mind map adds structure to your thoughts, giving you a clearer picture of every idea and how they relate.

Try this prompt to generate your own:

Outline the process of launching a new headset.

UML class

A UML class diagram is important for object-oriented design, visually representing the static structure of a system. It shows classes, their attributes, operations, and relationships using rectangles.

E-Commerce System: Manages online sales, including product listings, inventory, customer shopping carts, order processing, payments, and shipping details.

UML sequence

A UML sequence diagram is a visual representation of how different components or objects in a system interact with each other over time.

Try this prompt to generate your own:

Registration Process in a Web Application: Describes the interaction between the user interface, server, and database when a new user registers on a website.

Entity relationship diagrams

An Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) is used in software engineering and database design to provide a clear and structured way to represent the different entities (objects, concepts, or components) within a system and how they relate to one another.

Try this prompt to generate your own:

Healthcare Management System: This ERD facilitates the management of patient care and healthcare services. Patients are assigned to Doctors. Appointments are scheduled between Patients and Doctors. Medical Records store the history of patient treatments. Patients are linked to Bills for the services received, and Doctors are categorized into Departments.

All of these diagrams take time to build from scratch. But now you don’t have to with Miro AI for Diagramming.

Why use Miro AI for Diagramming?

Kick off projects faster than ever: Save time with Miro AI, eliminating the need for you to manually create diagrams on the canvas. Now you can generate one in a flash, meaning your projects will kick-start much faster.

Allow all team members to visualize diagrams easily: Take away the difficulties of trying to visualize ideas and provide your team with a quick and easy solution to create their own diagrams. This is ideal for brainstorming or feedback sessions when various stakeholders want to provide a representation of their diagramming ideas.

Create alternatives in a flash: Modify your prompt to generate different diagram options, allowing you to explore new versions of your diagram without the manual effort.
