This agreement outlines how our Scrum team will work together effectively and achieve our goals. This template provides a starting point. Remember to tailor it to your specific team's needs and collaboratively create a working agreement that fosters a productive and enjoyable Agile Scrum experience. Use the Scrum Values to guide you.

Team Identity:

  • Team Name: Choose a fun and memorable name that reflects your team spirit.

  • Date: The date in which the agreement was put into place

Individual and Team Accountabilities:

  • Availability & Timeliness: Set expectations for working hours, attendance, and notifying the team of absences.

  • Task Ownership: Define how each team member takes ownership of their work and supports others.

  • Feedback & Improvement: Establish a culture of giving and receiving constructive feedback to continuously improve.

Scrum Events:

  • Meeting Expectations: Establish time limits, agendas, and participation guidelines for Scrum events (Daily Scrum, Product Backlog Refinement (optional), Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective).

Communication:

  • Channels: Define preferred tools for daily communication and meetings (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Slack).

  • Transparency: Agree on how to keep the Product Backlog and Sprint Backlog visible and accessible to all team members.

Documents and Artifacts:

  • Focus & Collaboration: Discuss strategies to minimize distractions and encourage teamwork (e.g., pairing, swarming).

  • Team Calendar: Where do team members put their days off?

  • Team Wiki: Where are the team Wiki's located?

  • Dashboards: What metrics are important to our team? (e.g. burn down chart, burn up chart, cumulative flow diagram, work item aging)

  • Definition of Ready: What does it mean to our team when a work item is ready to begin work on?

  • Definition of Done: What does it mean to our team when a work item is done (not "it's done but...")? 100% done.

Team Approach to Work:

  • Focus & Collaboration: Discuss strategies to minimize distractions and encourage teamwork (e.g., pairing, swarming).

Tools and Technology:

  • Tools: Select and agree on the tools you'll use for product management, communication, and development.

Commitment as a Team:

  • Commitment: Team members commit to the agreement by adding a sticky with their name on it.
