As a product manager or a UX designer you will likely have a whole host of mini problems to tackle—to enhance functionality, introduce new features, fix errors, add delightful details, iterate usability issues reported by users, diagnose and address falling user engagement. It is tempting to work on everything, to make a perfect product. But is it possible to do it all? More importantly, is it worth it? And how do you prioritize what’s worth working on? That’s where the problem prioritization matrix comes into the picture.

How to Use this Tool

This tool is most helpful for decision-making: at the strategic level for defining the product roadmap, and at the tactical level to define the plan of action. Ensure that you have all key stakeholders present to collaboratively take concrete decisions to make the most of this tool.

Share this template at the end of brainstorming sessions to shortlist ideas to explore further, or during sprint planning and backlog refining meetings to define the plan of action.
