Engineering managers forget to ask themselves these questions consistently:

How high-quality and high-impact is our work?
How well can my team operate without me?
Why does my team exist, and why does what we work on matter?
How can I help my teammates grow across all experience levels and scenarios?
Ideally, this exercise should consistently lead particular teams to insights such as a need for a new team in the organization, a need for establishing a new process or redesigning an existing one, a need for a restructuring of a team, a need for tools and guidance for teams that are struggling with some area. The primary audience of that exercise is the team itself.
