Our Yeah Is Better Than Your Nah

Report

Our Yeah is better than your Nah is a nifty, 10 - 15 minute icebreaker that helps teams to have some fun whilst improving their teamwork, critical thinking, and presentation skills, by debating about a thought-provoking topic.

When to use Our Yeah is better than your Nah?

Plato said, "the beginning is the most important part of the work".

Our Yeah is better than your Nah, works best as an icebreaker with teams of between 3 - 7 people (incl yourself), to get the creative juices flowing, and have some competitive innocent fun as a team.

How does Our Yeah is better than your Nah work?

As the facilitator, you take the role of the judge, who decides which team presented the best most convincing arguments.

(or shake it up by making it about the most hilarious arguments)

Play the game following these steps

Prepare to engage

  • Divide participants between team Yeah and team Nah

  • Create or select a motion (the topic to debate)

  • Teams take 5 minutes to prepare. 3 arguments for the first and 1 savage argument for the second round, and place them on their dedicated boards

Commence Round 1

  • A team member of team Yeah presents the Yeahs in one minute and tries to convince you.

  • After the minute a team member of team Nah gets one minute to present the Nahs

Teams listen to each other and have the chance to create 3 counter-arguments they can add to the next board)

Time for Round 2.

  • A team member of each team gets 1 minute to present the final most savage argument and counter-arguments (if any)

Let's recap and summarize

  • 1 Minute for each team to summarize why they should win and why the other team shouldn't

There can be only one!

As the judge, you know the weight of the arguments presented to you, and decide which team wins the Plato Trophy, by putting it on the color of the winning team!
