Network and Ecosystem Mapping
Leveraging ecosystem theory which defines ecosystems as a function of overarching value propositions (VPs) (Adner, 2017), this tool defines a "space" from an actor-centric lens thus giving a representational view of the system of interconnections and interdependencies from that actor's perspective. This helps generate "network pictures", which when collected from the key stakeholders in a space, give an overview of the different perspectives and cognitive representations of the various interdependencies defining a space.
Analyse several different Network Pictures by comparing and contrasting the different perceptions of the key VPs across different actors, and the positions, and relevant activities and resources that different actors portray as necessary to the fulfillment of the key VPs.
Do not forget to practice reflexivity by discussing how this exercise is an action research that itself allows for the emergence and re-interpretation of mental models and space boundaries.
