3D Journey Map

Report

What

An interactive 3D journey map where you can move around all the elements like LEGO pieces. Edit text and/or replace it with your images from Midjourney.

Includes Midjourney prompts and alternative style designs. The example used is also a complete employee journey map with insights and "how might we" questions.

Why

Run engaging ideation sessions that are highly visual, and communicate your discovery learnings with impact. The way we have designed the prompts also dramatically speeds up the time it takes to make a 3d visual map, what took weeks previously is now days.

When

After you have distilled the discovery learnings and ready to go into ideation.

Who

We have designed the board to make it far easier for non-graphic designers to create something very visual. Typical users would be UX designers, service designers and the curious.

How

  1. Layout the footpath image, with one step per Customer/Employee/User Job to be done.

  2. Edit the text on each step by double-clicking on the text.

  3. Turn corners in when a new stage in the journey is occurring.

  4. Lay out your insights and "how might we" questions to match where they occur in the journey. Leave enough space beside each insight for the post-it notes for ideas to be added when running an ideation workshop.

  5. Ideally, overlay over quant insights to strengthen your qualitative observations. It helps when accountants are in the room :)

  6. Use Midjourney prompts to create the images on the journey map. (see the template for how to create the illustrations).

  7. Move the images around to get a good sense of balance. Remember to remove the white backgrounds when laying the images down using either Miro Ai Remove Background, or a program like Adobe Photoshop.

  8. Prep for ideation or discovery playback.
