Who Is on your Inner Team?

Report

What/When/Who

This template is for a coach / coachee situation, where both know each other already and the coachee´s problem or question needs a deep dive into the inner turmoil of the coachee. The method on this board can be used whenever we want to gain more clarity what is going on in someones head and to foster reflection.

The main goal for a first sessions using this board is to create and visualize the inner team members of the coachee for a specific situation or problem.

Usually this is only the starting point for follow-up sessions and working on how to work on a different team set-up for future situations.

How

Most instructions can be found on the board directly. But a few hints and tips:

The board supports the conversation Coach-Coachee, especially by visualizing the "team members in someones head", that illustrate the different aspects and inner dialogue in a certain situation.

This means: classical coaching techniques are necessary which are not directly reflected on this board, for instance: active listening, asking "good" questions, paraphrasing, summarizing etc.

Depending on the time and way things goes during the session, a follow-up session might be necessary for questions such as "how can we strengthen the team members that would be more useful in the future for similar problems?"

Acknowledgements

Thanks especially to Professor Schulz von Thun and his books (see: https://www.schulz-von-thun.de/die-modelle/das-innere-team; as far as I know only in German)

Also thanks to the colleagues from Finanzcheck, especially the team members where we have tried this approach and have been adjusting it according to the feedback from them.
