What?

The ‘values retro - gamified’ is a more generic retro format that gives you and your team the opportunity to reflect on how your behaviours align with your values. Meanwhile, the gamification elements operate to drive ‘equal voice’ and maximise engagement all around.

This one is based on the scrum values; however, can be adapted to your team or company values.

Who?

Any team (ideally sized 5 - 9*)

This is particularly beneficial for:

  • Relatively ‘new’ teams;

  • Teams struggling with ‘equal voice’ (i.e. where a few people do all the talking);

  • Teams at risk of low-energy-meetings;

  • Teams who aren’t confident in making decisions.

When?

This can be used in place of a recurring retrospective or it could be done as a higher-level, end of quarter retrospective. A strong use case would be when the teams’ interpersonal relationships or energy levels are struggling.

How Does it Work?

Start at ‘start’. This contains a user guide for the board. From there you can customise and set the board up how you see fit.

For those who want to jump right in, head on over the ‘icebreaker games’ (and remember to use the timer) for some time-pressured decision-making with a version of ‘would you rather’ and then an avatar assignment section so the compliments can start flying.

After a few minutes of fun the retrospective will begin. Here, each player rotates roles (i.e. deciding on final score and note taking) as everyone rates their teams’ performance for each value and discusses it.
