Team Dependency Map

Report

Help your teams understand their interactions and inter-team dependencies by running this small exercise where you visualize any clashes and hot spots that might require optimization or reorganization around value.

How to use the template:

Add your team names to the titles in the X and Y coordinates. Scan your inter-team interactions from left to right or top-down from team to team. Count the dependencies you have seen and represent them with rectangle colors, 1 (yellow), 2 (orange), and more than 3 (red), and sum the totals in the table at the far right.

Find potential ways to split teams under the same specialty or highly interacting teams that might need optimization. You might find if teams were closer to each other, communication could improve. You might also find new agile structures that need to pop up. This exercise was run as an aid to a Value Stream Mapping exercise before a Scaled Agile Framework Solution Train Launch.
