What is OGSM?
The Objective-Goal-Strategy-Metrics (OGSM) model is a strategic planning framework with the aim of ensuring that long-term visions are linked to short-term and medium-term goals, actions and metrics.
Why use OGSM?
The advantage of OGSM is that it allows you to see the “big picture” and link actions to goals.
OGSM vs OKR
Objectives & Key Results (OKR) is the goal you want to achieve and the results that determines your progress.OGSM and OKR have a large overlap, but OGSM is more extensive.
Important concerns!
Focusing too much on strategies and actions can dilute important metrics.
Do not interpret the model too broadly. Keep it specific.
Don’t stare blindly at the interpretation of the model, but adjust it if it is no longer feasible or relevant.
