Now-Next-Later Roadmap By Manar Alboqami

Report

A Now, Next, Later roadmap gives you the information that a roadmap needs like the destination, direction and steps to get there. But, crucially, it doesn’t dictate rigid release dates or a fixed order of doing things. This can help a product team (and the whole business) to stay agile and respond to changing business and customer needs.

The groupings should be defined by the following:

  1. Now: Items that have been validated and are currently being executed.

  2. Next: Items that are in or pending discovery, but might be discarded if we find that we aren’t confident enough in their technical feasibility, market viability or that they will provide value to our customers or end users.

  3. Later: These are long term priorities where the scope is still undefined and haven’t yet undergone a full discovery phase.
