Basics of Blockchain for Sustainability

Report

Interdisciplinary workshop activity for students and professional teams that seek to develop conceptual solutions by integrating blockchain technology within environmental sustainability challenges.

The following toolkit is part of the first Module of the course 'Basics of Blockchain for Sustainability', which is a course that has been developed under the BC4ECO project and Erasmus + project coordinated by Aalborg University, Tallin University of Technology and University of Limerick. The following toolkit comprises of tools and methods to develop Blockchain solutions and should be used in parallel with the teaching

How does the toolkit work?

The toolkit starts from a setup phase comprising of:

  1. General resources - that can be given to learners within the topics of Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs); Design Thinking; Environmental Sustainability.

  2. Scan Cards - or Case Studies to provide learners with tangible cases where Blockchain Technologies are integrated within environmental challenges.

  3. A Design Brief - to provide learners with a practical case study that sets the stage for the Workshop Activities.

Furthermore the Toolkit presents various canvases and exercises to facilitate the conceptualisation of Blockchain concepts for the given challenge (in the Brief).

Keep in mind

We recommend the Teachers or Learners that will engage with this toolkit to explore other content for the Module, comprising of teaching modules on Computer Science (DLTs), Design Thinking and Environmental Sustainability. The modules are available via Moodle for learners and can be facilitated by teachers. The Teacher Guide with relevant links for presentations and valuable content can be accessed in our project's website: https://bc4eco.eu/

Some of the tools presented in this board are inspired by the decentralisation method sheet linked below, which is covered by Creative Commons ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
