Building a Driver Tree

What is North Star Metric (NSM) and driver tree?
A North Star metric is a key health metric about your product that you’re looking to impact in the next 6 to 9 months based on current business priorities.
A driver tree is a way to visually lay out key inputs that drive impacts toward the North Star metric.
Why you should identify NSM and build a driver tree for your product?
It provides you with a full view of all potential areas of impact your team could work on to drive changes to the North Star metric.
When to do it?
When you're involved in a test-and-learn scenario and/or you need to find ways to drive impact to the North Star metric.
This is a good starting point to ultimately building a quantitative model that connects all the inputs to the North Star metric, enabling a data-driven approach to prioritise growth and product initiatives.
