Survivor Retrospective

Report

The Survivor Retrospective session is designed for teams looking to reflect on their performance, identify areas for improvement, and celebrate successes. This engaging format uses a Survivor-themed framework to facilitate discussion and decision-making.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Icebreaker Activity:

    • Begin with the "Desert Island" icebreaker. Ask each team member to share three items they would take if stranded on a desert island. This activity helps to lighten the mood and encourages team bonding.

  2. Main Board Discussion:

    • Transition to the main board where the bulk of the retrospective discussion will occur. Use the following categories to guide the conversation:

      • Sole Survivor: Discuss where the team excelled.

      • Island Storm: Identify challenges faced and areas that need improvement.

      • Risk Your Vote: Explore potential experiments and new strategies.

      • Protect Your Vote: Highlight practices that should be continued.

  3. Dot Voting:

    • Use series logo tokens to vote on the most important and useful tickets on the board. This helps prioritize issues and focus on key areas.

  4. Rate the Retro:

    • Conclude the session by rating the return on time invested. Use the "washed up on shore" metaphor to evaluate the session's effectiveness. Place an immunity idol at your selection to symbolize your rating.

  5. Vibe of the Tribe:

    • Reflect on the team culture and dynamics. Discuss what is working well and acknowledge team members who have made significant contributions.

By following these steps, teams can effectively analyze their performance, foster a positive team environment, and plan for future success.
