Persona Template & Workshop

Report

Personas are a method used in human-centered problem-solving. They are fictional archetypes grounded in research, that reflect the essential characteristics of a core stakeholder, audience member, learner, customer, or user groups within a specific ecosystem. This Miro template provides an introduction to personas, providing a collaborative workshop canvas for your team. It guides you through the process of collating research insights to create a persona, along with a structured template for synthesis and presentation.

When to use

The template and accompanying workshop canvas are best used after you have completed a discovery phase where you've investigated the problems, identified the stakeholders involved, and understood their needs. Use personas consistently during the project to guarantee that the solutions are tailored to the needs of the intended stakeholder groups.

How to use

Use the workshop canvas with your team to synthesise research in a workshop, or use the template provided to present your personas and disseminate insights.

  • Primary Research: Start by engaging in research methods such as interviews and workshops to understand the needs, behaviors, and preferences of your key stakeholders.

  • Inclusivity and Bias: During the empathise phase, consistently question and challenge your assumptions. Ask, "Who might we be inadvertently omitting or overlooking?"

  • Secondary Sources: Gather and consolidate data from secondary sources like industry reports, academic studies, market analyses, and online resources.

  • Synthesise Data: Synthesise the data to form a fictional character profile.

  • Create a Range of Personas: Create multiple personas based on key stakeholder profiles. Use these personas to guide discussions and decision-making.

  • Keep it Simple: Remember, personas are summaries - use them to guide conversations without overcomplicating :)
