Futures Triangle Workshop

Report

This template has been developed by Dr Annmarie Ryan, Digital Futures Lab, University of Limerick.

The template is a step-by-step workshop that will guide your team in the use of Sohail Inayatullah’s Futures Triangle framework. Following the steps and the suggested time frames will enable a team to engage with this tool, whether you are a novice or expert in Futures Thinking techniques and methods.

The Futures Triangle is an analytical framework for identifying three types of factors affecting the future of the topic chosen for analysis. The push of the present and the weight of the past are based on existing information, whereas the pull of the future is insightful and includes different images and visions of the future.

This workshop turns this framework into a visual tool for your team to create a shared understanding of key drivers and inhibitors of change in your chosen domain area.

The template offers a step-by-step guide in using this tool.
