I’m McCall, Creator Marketing Manager at Miro. I may be biased, but I think I have one of the most fun, exciting, and rewarding jobs at Miro. I get to work with our amazing and talented community of creators and brand partners to help bring their workflows, resources, and knowledge to life in Miroverse.
Today, I’d love to share some insights into one of our recent Miroverse collaborations — with Indeed. I’ll give you a peek into how the project came to life, from the initial spark of an idea, all the way to the results. Let’s get right into it.
What is Miroverse?
Miroverse is Miro’s collection of community-made templates, where Miro users and partners turn their boards into adaptable, repeatable frameworks so others don’t have to start from scratch. There are currently over 3,500 — I know! — templates to choose from. They range from icebreakers to product management workflows, and now resource-packed resume and cover letter templates. I like to think of Miroverse as a “secret weapon” for people to get inspired, learn from experts in their space, and find better ways of working. There’s truly something for everyone.
The idea
Our team’s North Star is the community. We pride ourselves on helping this incredible group of doers, thinkers, and dreamers kickstart their own creativity — eventually creating their next big thing. We spend a lot of our time talking to users, hearing their stories, pain points, and listening to their dreams. At the beginning of 2023, we conducted several user interviews with some of our most engaged creators and community champions. Additionally, we carried out in-depth content and search inquiry audits to understand and learn how our team could help fill in any resource gaps. From these interviews and throughout our various audits, we quickly learned that there was a clear lack of career and job-seeking resources. Especially resume and cover letter templates in Miroverse.
That’s when it all clicked! We could create a ‘one-of-a-kind’ resource template to empower our community and job seekers everywhere. With an infinite canvas and the ability to download documents as a PDF, Miro is the perfect tool to create these critically important documents. To go beyond the basics, I knew we needed a partner to help create an expertly crafted resource that would truly stand out among the thousands of other guides and templates out there. The answer was obvious.
Why collaborate with Indeed?
We teamed up with Indeed, the leading job site in the world, to create dynamic resume and cover letter templates packed with tips from expert Career Coaches. So now, anyone can confidently and easily prep for their next opportunity. Together, we carefully designed these templates as an opportunity to celebrate yourself — your accomplishments, your goals — to create an application you feel positive about.
Instead of opening tab after tab to sift through an overwhelming sea of resources, these templates are integrated with expert tips from a real life Career Coach to guide you along the way. With everything in one tidy place — including thought exercises, a word bank, and Indeed’s career resources — you can easily build a downloadable and ATS-friendly resume and cover letter that gives you confidence.
Indeed Resume template: This editable resume template includes thought exercises and insider tips to help take the guesswork out of crafting a resume from scratch. Once you’re done, download your resume directly from your Miro board and attach it to your application. The best part? The resume is ATS-friendly. And because you can endlessly edit and update it with Miro, it’s right there for you, throughout your career journey.
Indeed Cover Letter Template: Loaded with industry-specific examples and a space for brainstorming, this cover letter template showcases ways to share accomplishments, experience, and goals. Just like the resume template, you can easily download it to add to any application.
The power of “Playing as a team to win the world”
At Miro, the ethos of “Playing as a team to win the world” isn’t just a slogan; it’s a guiding principle in every aspect of our collaborative culture. We understand that true innovation and success happen when individuals come together, pooling diverse skills and perspectives toward a common goal. This project exemplifies the power of this teamwork philosophy.
From kickoff to finish, we had just eight weeks to get these templates together and out into the world. This meant that a strong cross-functional team and plenty of organization was critical to success. Project management was key — we ran weekly async Slack updates and cross-functional check-in meetings with Brand, Content, PR, Legal, Lifecycle Marketing teams, and more.
I wholeheartedly believe hard work is more rewarding (and dare I say, fun) when you’re surrounded and supported by teammates that help bring your vision to life.
At Miro, we celebrate the strength of our dependence. In fostering a culture of mutual support and collaboration, we achieve remarkable feats collectively, that extend far beyond the boundaries of individual contributions.
The results
One of our Miro community members shared on our community forum, “This is great news for all job seekers.” I have to agree! The result of our collaboration with a brand as beloved as Indeed was a significant win for job seekers everywhere. Since Miro is free for everyone, there are truly no barriers to accessing these resources.
Since these templates were published in June 2023, they’ve been viewed by over 22,000 people worldwide. The resume template was the 5th most copied (aka most used) template across all of Miroverse in 2023. Moving forward, we plan to introduce even more career resources to Miroverse and will continue listening to our community to learn how we can better support everyone, everywhere, in all the ways they use our platform.
I encourage everyone currently on the job hunt to explore these templates. We hope they not only inspire you, but also help you on your journey. And while you’re at it, check all our open positions here.
P.S. If you have any questions about Miroverse, or if you’re considering creating your own template, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our community team at community@miro.com.
