The Growth stream is all about activating value for end users for example Consultants team is focused on the needs of professional consultants, tailoring for their specific needs and the Miroverse team builds cross-product features and shared components for our community platforms (e.g. Miroverse or Marketplace). The teams build solutions by running a large volume of experiments, building user engagement with the product.

Most of the Growth stream is based in Amsterdam.

Each role at Miro is based at one of our physical hubs and we look for talent that wants to be part of these local, collaborative communities. Mironeers work in a hybrid model, with a 2 days a week in office culture as our baseline.

About the role

In Growth, our mission is to help more customers discover Miro. Over the past couple of years we have seen Miro grow massively and become an essential part of the workflow for 45+ million customers, which comes with added technical complexity and the need to build the product for a very different scale. Next to this, with more customers using Miro we continuously learn about new use cases and features we can build, and that requires a different approach to our architecture.

This role will sit within our Monetization sub stream which is made up of six teams (four of which you would support). The teams you would support in this role (currently ~20 engineers in total) are responsible for increasing the conversion and adoption of self-serve paid plans and giving focused attention to specific customer segments and addressing their unique needs.

Technology wise, we currently work with Java, Kotlin and Node.js on the backend, and a mix of React and Angular on the frontend. 

What you’ll do

  • As a Staff Engineer, you will take ownership of a broad, evolving problem space and rely on your technical expertise to guide teams through the process of designing solutions and creating a solid tech roadmap.
  • Build and lead a community of (senior) engineers with diverse skill sets and help them grow
  • Own the technical strategy and architecture for Monetization teams and partner with the staff engineer working on the closely related Payments architecture.
  • Build PoCs and shape the technical strategy for business critical projects
  • Be an advocate for modern development practices and help us foster team autonomy

What you’ll need

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years in techlead / staff / principal role
  • Experience working in a customer focused environment, ideally within a SaaS or subscription business
  • Experience working across multiple technology stacks using different programming paradigms
  • Experience building, launching and running mission-critical, high-performance, distributed, fault tolerant systems
  • Experience with AWS and Kubernetes  
  • Excellent communication and ability to influence both technical individual contributors and business stakeholders
